Management Company Services
As a Central Bank of Ireland authorised UCITS Management Company and Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM), we provide the full regulatory framework, operational infrastructure and governance expertise needed to launch and manage UCITS and AIFs from a respected EU jurisdiction. With our management company service offering, we take responsibility for the full suite of required regulatory functions and oversee the activities of delegates and service providers. We provide investment management, fund risk management, operational risk management, regulatory compliance, capital and financial management and distribution designated person functions.
Fund hosting services
We are experienced in delivering fund hosting solutions for asset managers, investment advisors and institutional clients. About us
Sanlam Asset Management (Ireland) Limited (“SAMI”) is the Sanlam Group’s international investment management platform. We currently manage in excess of $10bn for our clients world-wide across various fund types: UCITS, Retail AIFs and Qualifying Investor AIFs. We partner with a wide range of investment managers, from South African managers seeking global reach to multinational global leaders, supporting a range of international investment solutions across international markets and asset classes. Operating as a 'Super ManCo,' SAMI is dual-authorised and regulated as a UCITS Management Company and Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM) under EU regulations. This status allows SAMI to passport UCITS and AIFs across the EU.

2014
SAMI is authorised as an Alternative Investment Fund Manager (“AIFM”) by the Central Bank.
Leadership team
Richard Aslett, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director
Richard has been with SAMI since July 2005. Prior to this, he worked in a number of financial services sectors in Ireland and the United Kingdom including fund management and administration, banking and home loan administration. Richard is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and has completed a Masters in Business Administration from University College Dublin.
Dale Bucknell, Designated Person for Investment Management
Dale joined SAMI in 2007 primarily working on the operations side, and becoming Designated Person for investment management in 2021.He is a key point of contact for existing and prospective investment management clients.
Austin O’Dowd, Designated Person for Capital and Financial Management
Austin joined SAMI in November 2012 and is responsible for managing all financial and management accounting, controls, planning and reporting. Austin is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and has over 25 years’ experience working in the financial services sector.
Noel McLaughlin, Designated Person for Fund Risk Management
Noel joined SAMI in May 2013 and is responsible for Fund Risk. He also plays a lead role in managing new business and product development. He has over 25 years’ experience working in the financial services sector and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (England & Wales). Prior to SAMI, Noel was with a Big 4 audit and advisory firm for 13 years working in both Luxembourg and Ireland on a wide range of EU regulated fund, offshore hedge fund, investment manager, fund administration and global custody audit clients.
William Ferguson, Designated Person for Regulatory Compliance and Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Reporting Officer
William joined SAMI in 2020 and is the Head of Compliance and MLRO. Prior to joining SAMI, William was a Senior Compliance Consultant, holding the prescribed roles of MLRO, MLCO & DPO with a trust company in the Channel Islands.
Rudy Connors, Head of Operations and Designated Person for Distribution
Rudy joined SAMI in 2021 as Head of Operations. I Rudy was subsequently appointed as SAMI’s Designated Person for Distribution. Prior to joining SAMI Rudy held various roles at a leading global service providers in the funds industry in Ireland. Rudy has completed a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from University College Dublin.
Thomas Lebacq, Designated Person for Operational Risk Management
Tom joined SAMI in March 2022 from another UCITS Management Company and AIFM where he was Vice-President - Head of Operational Risk. Prior to that, Tom held various roles with global fund houses in the areas of Investment Management operations and fund accounting.
